Song for the Week

I've loved Lisa Marie Presley since "Lights Out." I think that her voice is different and interesting and her lyrics have real meaning. Her new album is the album she was born to make. I love it! So, I want to share this song off of her new album.

Mondays=May I tell you something about writing?

I wanted to share a snippet from my current WIP, When I'm Small, with you all for Blog Me MAYbe.
This is the first three paragraphs. Please tell me what you think! :)

It was all about appearances. Picture of poise. Picture of perfection. Never show what's inside. Never show pain. Never show you're broken.
Every morning, I pulled my hair back into a perfectly parted and slicked back ponytail. I made sure that my eyeliner was just so. Not too much make-up, just enough to play up my features. Fill in any scuffs on my fingernails and toenails. Iron out my outfit for the day. Coordinate shoes and handbag. Never, ever let anyone see my flaws. Never let anyone see me vulnerable. I didn't want a pity party. I was fine. Perfectly fine.
We were moving to Portland, Oregon. After my father's death, my mother couldn't stand to live in our house anymore. She didn't openly say this but I knew it. She would never come home after he died. She was always away on business or working late. Honestly, I couldn't stand it there anymore either. It was too painful being there, too quiet. There were too many memories, too many reminders of how our life had been with him there. Better. Happier.

Sharing Music

I've decided that once a week I will share a new song that I've discovered with you all. Or maybe one that I just really love. No set day. As you all probably know I'm no good at that.

So here's the first I want to share with you. Let me know what YOU think!

Funny :)

I know I've been terrible, as far as blogging for the Blog Me MAYbe blogfest. I never have time to keep up with everything anymore. But I'm here again today and I thought I'd share this hilarious video of a talking cat. So funny!

Lol!

Ways to Annoy People

This is for the Blog Me MAYbe blogfest. I know I'm starting late but better late than never. I won't be able to blog everyday but I'll do my best.

So, Monday=May I share something funny? And I found this awesome list of 101 ways to annoy people on www.coolfunnyjokes.com. Whoever invented this is brilliant. :) They made me laugh. Hope they'll make you laugh too.

There are 101 but I'll just list my favorites:
1. Amuse yourself for endless hours by hooking a camcorder to your TV and then pointing it at the screen.
2. Speak only in a "robot" voice.
3. Leave the copy machine set to reduce 200%, extra dark, 17 inch paper, 98 copies.
4. Leave your turn signal on for fifty miles.
5. Invent nonsense computer jargon in conversations, and see if people play along to avoid the appearance of ignorance.
6. Do not add any inflection to the end of your sentences, producing awkward silences with the impression that you'll be saying more any moment.
7. Adjust the tint on your TV so that all the people are green, and insist to others that you "like it that way."
8. Staple papers in the middle of the page.
9. Produce a rental video consisting entirely of dire FBI copyright warnings.
10. Set alarms for random times.
11. Change channels five minutes before the end of every show.
12. Tape pieces of "Sweating to the Oldies" over climactic parts of rental movies.
13. Decline to be seated at a restaurant, and simply eat their complimentary mints by the cash register.
14. Pay for your dinner with pennies.
15. Drive half a block.
16. Sit in your front yard pointing a hair dryer at passing cars to see if they slow down.
17. Ask people what gender they are.
18. Lick the filling out of all the Oreos, and place the cookie parts back.
19. At the laundromat, use one dryer for each of your socks.
20. Repeat everything someone says, as a question.

Insecure Writer's Support Group-First Post

Insecure Writer's Support Group

The list could go on forever, so where should I begin? :)

Right now I'm wondering if the WIP I'm currently editing will seem realistic to readers. Or if it'd be interesting at all to them. Did I put too much detail or not enough? Is the environment so real that they'll feel like they're there? Are the characters jumping off the page? I want to have written an amazing page turner that readers just can't put down. But what writer doesn't? Who doesn't want to hear someone say that they absolutely love your work and can't wait to read more?

I guess the problem is that, right now, I don't have anyone critiquing my work. So if anyone would like to do some reading, let me know. :)

From now on I'll be posting the first Wednesday of every month for the Insecure Writer's Support Group. Hope that you will join in if you're feeling insecure too! :)

Till next time,
Madi
